Egypt – New Patent Late Examination Fee and Increased Official Charges

The Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority (EGIPA) has issued Decision No. 34 of 2025, introducing significant amendments to the patent system.

A new late examination fee of EGP 25,000 (equivalent to USD 503) will now apply to examination requests submitted after the first statutory three-month period from the national date of the patent application. This change is effective immediately and is part of the recent updates announced by EGIPA, which also include a general increase in official fees across various stages of the patent application process.
